How I Build Boards

Every part of the board building process is done by hand from start to finish - design, cutting out the blank, shaping and lamination.

What I offer is an alternative to what's readily available to most folk. My shapes continue to evolve through a process of refinement and feedback to maximise the surf experience for each person be they beginners or ex-pros. Custom orders are welcome.

    Blanks

I hand cut every blank using high grade EPS300. This allows ultimate freedom in rocker, width, thickness & foil.

    Lamination

E-cloth, in six and four ounce, is used in different combinations to suit weight, flex, strength and durability. S-cloth and carbon fibre are also available. Boards are glassed using Resin Research Surf Pro Epoxy.

    Party Boards

In recent years, some shapes have come under the umbrella of being party boards. Characteristics of these boards include greater volume, Greenough-inspired edge-concept bottom with a twin-fin set-up. They paddle super well, go fast, can hold a high line on the wave face and ultimately turn junk surf into keeper sessions.

    Feedback

Originally the boards were designed to be ridden on the days when nothing else but a soft top would work. However, as the take-up on the boards expanded they were surfed in better and more diverse conditions. The feedback received on party boards is consistently positive; riders at all levels described the boards were opening up doors to new lines and approaches. I haven't found the top end yet in many of these boards.
